Latest FIFA World Ranking – A look at how East Africa faired.

FIFA/Coca-Cola world ranking for the month of January was released today, Thursday 4.

Out of eight East African countries sampled by Soka25east.com, just three managed to make positive gains; the remaining five all dropped. 2016 Championship of African nations (CHAN) host Rwanda registered the biggest gain of positive six to position 85, while Burundi sunk the deepest, losing nine places to 119.

Uganda’s long gaining streak which saw them climb to their highest ever position (62), came to a halt, losing eight places to current 70th position. Cranes exited the on ongoing CHAN at group stage without a win.

Kenya returned to top 100, gaining two places to position 99; Tanzania also moved up a point to position 125.

Ethiopia maintained the losing streak dropping six places to 124, with neighbors Sudan and South Sudan also sinking to positions, 136 and 140, losing six and a place respectively.

African Champions Ivory Coast remains the best ranked at position 28, despite dropping six places, followed by Cape Verde at 33 and Ghana at 41.

Belgium is still be best in the world, followed by Argentina, Spain and Germany in that order.
