LIVINGSTONE Pirates has with immediate effect banned Zambezi FM Sports Crew from covering their matches. According to the Chairman Aggrey Njekwa, one of the oldest Radio Sports crew in the Tourist Capital City is bringing the name of football into dispute.
“It is a straight forward thing; we have said Zambezi FM for now should stop covering Livingstone Pirates. We don’t want a media house that is going to bring the game of football into disrepute, any other are free to cover pirates apart from what we have said to Zambezi, and we have the right to do so,” Njekwa said.
Soka25East asked Mr Aggrey Njekwa his main reason for meting out an embargo on the Radio Station. He said: “We cannot give you any reason that is just our reaction, we have reacted and the reason can not be given just now.”
Meanwhile, Zambezi FM Station Manager Danny Anakene ( Kangumu Anakene) said he could not preempt any detail on account that he received communication from the Club Chairman few moments ago.
“No details I have gotten from the Sports reporters and I am as well not aware where the blackout is coming from,” he said.
He has confirmed receiving the communique, hence called for a meeting with the Club Chairman to find out where the blackout is coming from.
Soka25East will follow up the story as it unfolds and get to the roots of this rift that has surfaced between the Zambezi FM Sports Crew and the Busiku Ground based club.
In another development Livingstone Pirates have revealed that all bonuses owed to the players since the start of the season will be cleared this week. This is according to the Chairman Aggrey Njekwa who told Soka25east through a phone and separate interview on Monday Morning.
According to the Chairman the reason for the delay in paying the players was that the executive embarked on their duties this term very late, hence it affected alot of matters. He has however assured that the Council is a big institution and will handle this matter and they are treating it with the urgency it deserves.
Livingstone Pirates are currently 8th in Division One Zone Four having won only one in the last five games with four draws.
