FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo has attributed Uganda Cranes’ 2017 AFCON qualification to the President of Republic of Uganda His Excellency Hon. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

“I thank the President for all the moral support and assurances through calls to me, the captain, coaches and players, qualification to AFCON was due to the effort of the president, and for the record, every time he financed us, we performed,” Magogo said while during yesterday’s the state banquet in honour of the team at Entebbe State House.

The Cranes made it to AFCON for the first time since 1978 after beating Comoros 1-0 on 4th September thanks to a Miya Farouk’s lone strike in the 36th minute.

The coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojovic’s side are still in contention for a place in 2018 World Cup, and scheduled to play second group “E” qualifier at home against Congo Brazzaville, Saturday 12, at Namboole.
