Defending Malawian Super League champions Big Bullets on Saturday 6th May went three points clear at the top of the Malawian TNM League after beating Azam Tigers 2-1 in a match played at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. The win means Bullets stay three points ahead of second placed Silver Strikers who demolished Dedza Young 4-0.
Mussa Manyenge scored his first league goal after being set up by enterprising Chiukepo Msowaya early in the first half. Tiger’s hope of finding an equalizer was diminished when Hanke Machiu was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
The people’s team took advantage of their numerical strength and on resumption Jafalie Chande headed from a Msowaya cross to score Bullets second goal.
Azam Tigers pulled one back but is was too late as the match ended 2-1 in favour of Big Bullets.
In other matches played on Saturday 6th, Surestream beat Mzuni 2-0 at Kalulu Stadium while EPAC lost a home 3-5 to Kamuzu Barracks.
In other related news, a Malawian football fan that has been receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after he was beaten by Soldiers at the Chichiri stadium bus park has died. The fan was beaten 5 months ago in a TNM league match between Surestream FC and Red Lions. No communication yet from the County’s Football governing body.
