Malawian netball star,27 year old Mwawi Kumwenda’s fairy tale continues to unfold as she was nominated to replace Ivorian and African soccer star Yaya Toure as the new face of Airtel in it’s brand of ‘Its now ‘ campaign.
Kumwenda who plies her trade with a New Zealand club is one of the most influential African sports personalities.
She has been posting pictures in full Airtel dresses a confirmation of her joy for the worthy nomination.Soka25east sampled some of the pictures
The campaign is aimed at empowering the youth in different aspects. The “it’s now” slogan serves to challenge the youth that this is the right time to act if they are to achieve their dreams just like the sports personality associated, in this regard Mwawi Kumwenda. Airtel Malawi acting MD Charles Kamoto was quoted saying.
Kumwenda was part of the Malawi squad that featured in the World Netball tournament where she was named the Player of the Tournament.she is also the Malawi Sports personality of the year.She has also recently been nominated for athlete of the year honour by International World Games Association (IWGA).
As soon as the announcement was made,several Malawians began showering her with a lot of praises in social media.
