Malawian upcoming star Gerald ‘Papa’ Phiri Junior has attracted interest from several ABSA Premier League clubs.
This has been coupled with his splendid performance in the ongoing COSAFA Championships in South Africa.
The 20 year old striker who will turn 21 next month has been instrumental for the flames in the ongoing COSAFA championships where they eliminated hosts South Africa 5-4 on post match penalties in the Semi Finals.
He was substituted in the 79th minute by Frank Banda.
Phiri plays for Zimbabwean Top tier side CAPS united after being signed from Malawian outfit Mighty Wanderers .He is the son of Coach Gerald Phiri and the
Malawi Coach Young Chimodzi handed him his debut call to the national team in March and he played his first international Match for the Flames away to Tanzania on March 28th.
He had previously undergone trials at Supersport United of South Africa, and Syavuma Sports Group Managing director Paul Mitchell was quoted by a South African Media saying he is not surprised with the players exploits and interests from PSL clubs
