Gor Mahia prodigy Eric “Mercelo” Ouma has been nominated for the prestigious Kenyan premier league most valuable player award in this year’s gala later this month.
The youngster will have to ward off stiff competition from John Makwata from Ulinzi, Tusker’s duo of midfielder Humphrey Mieno and keeper David Okello, and Kenneth Mugambi of Western Stima to land the coveted gong.
His teammate and field captain Musa Mohammed has been nominated for the best defender award alongside Noah Abich of Sofapaka, George Owino of Mathare United, Posta Rangers’ Jockins Atudo and Tusker Captain James Situma.
Midfielder of the year award will be a fierce battle among four veterans namely; Echesa Hillary of Chemelil, Humphrey Mieno of Tusker, Whyvonne Isuza of Mathare, Kenneth Mugambi of Stima and Francis Kahata of Gor Mahia.
The nominees were disclosed today at a hotel in Nairobi.
