Gor Mahia Vs AFC Leopards, Sunday, August 23,2015
Venue: Nyayo Stadium
VIP-600, Russia-300
Gor Mahia Coach Frank Nuttall is taking it easy ahead of the bitter rivalry pitting his side against AFC Leopards.
In a bid to take pressure off his charges, the Scotsman told Soka25east.com that the clash is like any other, despite the importance attached to it by players and fans.
“I know this is usually the biggest game and every player on both sides is geared up for it. But then again it is just any other league game with three points,” He said.
K’Ogalo has one hand on the SPL trophy which they won last year for the second time in a row; they sit pretty at the top of the table with 56 points from 22 fixtures and they need three more wins to take it away.
The team remains unbeaten in the league, a feat Nuttall believes Leopards will be under pressure to end.
“The pressure is on our opponents who will come with zeal to end our unbeaten run.” He added.
Ingwe holds the record for more wins in this derby at 27, five more than Gor, with the rest being draws.
The first leg of this explosive tie settled for a 1-1 draw. Victor Ali Abondo scored for Gor with Jacob Kelly now playing for Nkana FC of Zambia equalizing for Ingwe.
