A total of 75 players showed up at the Railways Training Institute (RTI) on Saturday 19th March for the AFC Leopards trials in a bid to form an U19 team to represent the club in the 2016 KPL U19 tournament.
Under the watch of former Kenyan international Ezekiel Akwana, the club is conducting trials to raise a team for the tournament scheduled to start be held in April and the coach managed to trim to 45 after the opening day.
The trials will continue for the final session on Sunday and the coach stated his satisfaction with the attendance on Saturday.
“Well the attendance today was quite impressive; having 75 players come to seek a chance despite the short notice is very encouraging and it gave a good opportunity to look at a big pool of talented players.
“Unfortunately at the end of the day, some have to be chopped off and after the session today, we had 45 players remaining and we will be trimming further tomorrow so that we have a team of 25 players,” he noted.
Akwana further revealed that the final list of 25 players will be handed to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) management on Monday.
