The embattled young striker scored what is probably the most important goal of his career so far.
It came in what I would describe as the biggest match of the season and I am not sure if we will see another big game like this for the remaining games.
The match had every ingridient of a typical local derby; hard tackles, yellow cards and an unruly crowd. Yes the Nkana fans stalled the match at halftime demanding the release of their colleague who was apprehended after he invaded the pitch.
The match referee Wisdom Chewe demanded assurance of security before the match could restart causing a 14 minute delay as Nkana fans threw an assortment of objects objects on the pitch including soft drink cans and broken glass bottles.
In the end the match did continue. The fracas almost caused an abandonment to what was turning out to be a match to watch.
And indeed the Kopala Derby lived up to the hype surrounding the match build-upwith Nkana’s deadly attacking duo of Walter Bwalya and Ronald Kampamba dominating the Previews, but it was the little Patson Daka who rose to the occasion heading home a Govenda Simwala cross in the 19th minute
Daka’s goal has definitely twisted the tide of the title race towards table toppers Zanaco who are now breathing a sigh of relief with their 5 point lead over second placed Nkana still intact.
But who is to say Power Dynamos can’t go for the title as well?
Thanks to Patson Daka’s goal, Aba Yellow are now 6 points behind leaders Zanaco and within a point of today’s opponents Nkana.
The greatest disappointment of the Derby from a Nkana perspective was to see Ronald Kampamba and Walter Bwalya reduced to mere spectators in the match.
I guess this was due to the great performance of Billy Mutale in the Power Dynamos defense. The young defender put in a great shift keeping Nkana’s attacking duo at bay.
Hats off to Kelvin Mubanga aswell in the Power Dynamos midfield. I certainly don’t understand why Nkana let him join Power Dynamos. He was literally pulling all the strings in the middle of the park out gunning Simon Bwalya and Jacob Ngulube.
Even when Aggrey Chiyangi brought in Guilly Manziba Mubanga still dominated play linking up with the energetic Kennedy Mudenda.
Mudenda took advantage of Mubanga’s passing accuracy and used his dribbling speed to cause havoc for Nkana’s full backs, Donashano Malama and Diego Apanene.
Credit also goes to Allan Chibwe in the Power Dynamos goal. He was on top of things making sure that Nkana didn’t equalize.
Overall, Power Dynamos deserved to win the match and their fans will be singing songs of celebration until their lungs hurt.
