Mauritius coach Alain Happe – We want to confirm our win over Mozambique against Kenya

  • By Bonface Osano,

Exuberant Mauritius head coach Alain Happe has reiterated that his charges will be seeking nothing but a win when they face Harambee Stars of Kenya in the FIFA World Cup qualifier at home on Wednesday 7 at Anjalay Stadium.

He was addressing a press conference on Friday 2, at the Mauritius Football Association Headquarters, Sepp Blatter Football House, Trianon.

Buoyed by their 1-0 win over higher ranked Mozambique in the CHAN 2016 qualifier in September , Happe stated clearly that they will also be out to prove that the win was not a fluke.

”We have called up 27 players which we need to bring down to 20. We want to confirm our win against Mozambique this time against Kenya. The boys are ready for the battle and are confident of a big performance,” Happe said.

The win over Mozambique lifted them up 17 places to position 186 in the latest FIFA World ranking, a feat Happe believes they can build on into the clash against the Bobby Williamson coached side and give a good match.

“We have no choice but to give a good match at home. I know the Kenyan team and I am also aware that it will be tough against them in Nairobi. They will definitely have the support of their fans,” he added.

The tactician is a live to the influence of Stars’ skipper saying he is a player to watch in the Kenyan squad.

“Victor Wanyama who plays for suthermpton in England is the biggest threat in that team. We must also take into consideration that we will play two matches in four days. We will do our best to get the qualification.” He concluded.

Meanwhile foreign based pros have continued to trickle in. Dylan Collignon (Royal Geantsathois – Belgium), Andy Sophie (AS Marsouins) and skipper Jonathan Bru already linked up with the team.

Michael Bosqui (Bastia) will arrive tomorrow while Kevin Bru and Jonathan Justin are expected in town on Monday 5.

Kenyan squad mainly locals will travel tomorrow (Sunday 4) to Mauritius and they will be joined by their foreign based counterparts on Monday 5.
