DRC’s TP Mazembe touched down in South Africa Wednesday three days to 2017 CAF Super Cup clash with hosts Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

The squad of 18 received a warm reception from mostly Congolese diaspora, who thronged Oliver Tambo Airport, Johannesburg with song and dance to welcome them.

They were specifically thrilled to see prodigal son Tresor Mputu, whom they carried shoulder high, in a show of confidence in his return to the 5-times African Champions.

The team immediately embarked on a road trip to Pretoria, the host city, where they will stay and acclimatize before the 25th edition of the CAF Super Cup on Saturday 18.

Sundowns warmed-up to the clash, their maiden appearance, with a hard fought 1-1 draw away to Chippa United in the Premier Soccer League on Wednesday.

They are expected to field a full strength squad after resting some of their key players in the Wednesday outing.

On offer will be USD 100, 000 for the winners and USD 75,000 for runners-up.

Mazembe, three times winners, and the current defending champions, will be gunning to go a step further and bag a fourth, and move two steps closer to all time winners Al Ahly of Egypt, who have six under their belt.
