Tanzanian international Mbwana Samatta underwent a successful surgery after being injured playing for his Belgian side Genk.
He will miss his country’s international friendly against Benin.
The Taifa Stars captain and KRC Genk player was reported to have torn a muscle around his knee and will be sidelined for close to 8 weeks.
Samatta tore his muscle in a match against Lokeren in the Belgium Pro League. Samatta only played the first 40 minutes in the match the ended nil all and was replaced by Nikolas Karelis.
The 24 year old Samatta was due to fly directly to Catonou will be missed. Another absent in the Saturday friendly for Taifa Stars will Abi Banda.
