After tough negotiations for contract renewal which failed to materialize, Striker Meddie Kagere and Gor Mahia had to part ways to mark the end of any business between the two parties.
It’s some sort of a blow for the club to miss on such a top striker who played an integral part in the glorious year (2015) in which the Sportpesa Premier League champions went unbeaten in the whole season.
Confirming the word to the official Gor Mahia website, club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier said they will not renew Kagere’s contract.
“We have tried our best to negotiate with Meddie Kagere but it’s quite unfortunate we will not be able to renew his contract because we can’t meet his high demands,” said Rachier.
Adding to that, was also club’s assistant secretary general Ronaldo Ngala who they did not reach an agreement. ” We did not come to an agreement with him so we may not have him,” he said.
Meddie Kagere arrived at the club in 2015 and signed a one deal to see him through last season and the two parties were keen on contract extension but they failed to reach an agreement.
