Kwesi Donsu scored after 95 minutes to give Medeama of Ghana a dramatic 3-2 victory over TP Mazembe of the Democratic
Republic of Congo Sunday in a CAF Confederation Cup thriller.
He darted into the box, rounded goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo and scored with a low shot from a difficult angle after one of the most entertaining matches in the 13-year second-tier African club competition.
Medeama led by two goals on the hour mark before Mazembe fought back to equalise in a Group A matchday 5 clash in Ghanaian port city Sekondi.
Enoch Atta Agyei and Moses Sarpong were the other Medeama scorers and Jonathan Bolingi and Zambian Rainford Kalaba got the goals that restored equality.
Already-qualified Mazembe retained top spot with 10 points despite a first group loss, Medeama have eight points, Mouloudia Bejaia of Algeria five and eliminated Young Africans of Tanzania four.
Mazembe need one point from a home fixture against Young Africans on August 23 or 24 to be sure of topping the table and facing the Group B runners-up in the semi-finals.
Bejaia, who lost 1-0 at Young Africans Saturday, must defeat Medeama at home to snatch second place on head-to-head records having drawn 0-0 in Ghana during June.
A blunder by Ivory Coast-born Mazembe goalkeeper Gbohouo allowed an Agyei free-kick to trickle into the net on 32 minutes for the only first-half goal.
Sarpong converted a harshly awarded penalty to double the lead after 59 minutes only for Bolingi to score with a close-range header two minutes later.
Another close-range header brought nine-time CAF competition winners Mazembe level on 73 minutes with Kalaba the scorer.
FUS Rabat of Morocco and title-holders Etoile Sahel of Tunisia have qualified from Group B and meet in the final round to decide who tops the standings.
