He is the first player to score the first goal in Indian super league at the opening and inauguration game on October 12 2014 at the28th minute,a shot from the edge of the penalty box in a 3-0 victory for Atletico de Kolkata over Mumbai city fc.
The Ethiopian forward FIkruTeferra , in his 13 years career played for 14 clubs across Africa,Europe,asia.
The 30 year striker, started his club career at Adam city fc in Ethiopia during the2003\4 then he moved to the capital city side St.George for 2 consecutive seasons.
He played 55 games and scored 26 goals. He won the Ethiopian premier league cup in both 2004\5 &2005\6 seasons.
Fikru then a hot property was sought by many top clubs , but South African giants Orlando Pirates got his signature.
But the 2006\7 season was bad for him, in Orlando, he only scored 2 goals on 19 appearances.
Fikru then moved to Supersport United where he played for 2 years. Supersport United fans loved him for his sensitive tricks to score goals and how he celebrated his goals with a back flip.
In 2009,he became the first Ethiopia homegrown player to play in Europe first league.
He signed a 3 year with the Czech club FK MALADA BOLESKA, but he returned back to Supersport United after his first season.
The South African side were very happy to get there boy back. But he stayed in supersport for only 1 year . In 2011,Fikru joined the finnish football club,Kuopionpalloseura(KUPS).
Then in 2012,he travelled to Asia for the first time to join the Vietnamese club, Thanh hoa. In 2013,he moved back to South Africa to join Free State Stars.
In that the same year he joined the University of Pretoria,then moved to Capetown side Milano united.
In 2014,as the new Indian clubs signed top players across the world to start the Indian super league,Fikru signed for the partner of Atletico Madrid, Atletico de Kolkata.
He became the star player in Atletico by scoring unbelievable and artistic goals, he scored 5 goals on 12 appearance. Fikru won the first indian super league cup with Atletico de Kolkata.
In 2015,before the start of indian league,fikru moved back to the South African club Bidvest Wits then when the Indian super league 2015 season resumed he moved to the other indian Super league club , Chennaiyin FC.
Amazingly, Fikru won the second indian Super league with Chennaiyin fc. Then in 2016 he moved to neighboring nation Bangladesh, he signed for the big budget club, Sheikh Russel KC in a year deal.
Fikru scores goals starting from the first game with a hattrick. He is currently playing for Sheikh Russelkc,which is his 14th club.
Fikru Tefara has appeared in more than 230 club games and scored more than 54 goals.
For the national team of Ethiopia, he appeared on 30 games and scored 10 goals. He was the captain of Walia Ibex during the 36thediton of cecafa in 2012 hosted by Uganda.
In his club life, Fikru has won two Ethiopian premier league trophies with St.George and 1 super cup with St.George.He has also won the Indian super league winner with Atletico de Kolkata and Chennaiyin fc.
