That Kenya is a hot bed of soccer talents has never been in question, and one such talent is Godfrey Okeya of Asysa FC in the Nyanza North Football Kenya Federation County League.
The gifted attacking midfielder boasts of 7 goals and 13 assists in 12 games thus far, an achievement you may not come across even at the top Kenyan League (KPL). His last goal against Manyatta United at Shaurimoyo Grounds on 23rd August was a joy to behold, a solo effort culminating in a left foot scorcher which left opponent keeper for the dead.
The former St. John’s Nyamagwa High School student is a graduate of Pro 16 Academy, where he horned the technical aspect of his play. He is a good game reader and can effectively use both legs to shoot, the kind of a player you would want to have in your team.
Apart from his preferred role of attacking midfield, Godfrey can also slot in the holding midfield role. His contribution at Asysa FC cannot be understated, he has helped them to a third spot on the log by the mid season break – the team has scored a total of 23 goals.
