Chipolopolo coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named 28 players for the Uganda Three-Nations tournament with Zesco and Zanaco players who were not part of the bulk of local camps making the cut.
Micho has named 28 local players as part of his CHAN selection process.
The Chipolopolo boss has included Cosafa Under-20 Player of the Tournament Patrick Gondwe and goal scorer in the 1-0 over Malawi in an international friendly Collins Sikombe in the Kampala bound squad.
Micho has also drafted Green Eagles midfielder Gozon Mutale who put up a splendid performance during yesterday’s international friendly match against Malawi.
The team leaves for Kampala on Sunday and will play Uganda and Mali as part of the Chipoloplo preparations for the CHAN.
Zambia will also play Ethiopia on March 21 as an extension of their East African tour.
Micho will have eight foreign based players in the squad that will face Botswana.
The foreign based players will join the local players that the gaffer has been drilling.
Micho has been hard at work putting his pieces in place to ensure that the Chipolopolo is back at the pinnacle of the African game.
His first international assignment was the game against Malawi that his charges won 1-0.
Zambia was due to play Botswana over two legs on March 26 and 29 before heading to Cameroon to participate in the CHAN but CAF have recently announced it’s decision to Postpone all AFCON qualifiers to a later date due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The Chipolopolo will be among top 16 African teams that qualified to the CHAN.
