African Nations Championship (CHAN)
3rd round, 2nd Leg: Sudan Vs Uganda [Uganda leads 2-0 on aggregate]
Despite boasting of a 2-0 first leg win advantage against the Sudan Falcons obtained at the Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium last Saturday, the Uganda Cranes team composed of home based players will not take chances.
The team had just a day’s rest before regrouping on Monday ahead of their return leg against Sudan in Khartoum.
Two players have been added on to the team, Ambrose Kiirya from SC Villa and Aggrey Madoi of Jinja Municipal Council Hippos to make a list of 25 players in camp.
In his post match interview on Saturday, Micho told soka25east.com, ‘’ In Khartoum, we shall play on the artificial turf, therefore we will have to camp at the Njeru technical centre in time for the players to get used to the turf before the game’’.
However, although the boys travelled to the FUFA Technical center Njeru for the residential training camp, all is not well. The players are still complaining of un paid winning bonuses.
Soka25east has reliably learnt that the players’ bonuses are yet to be paid and there has been no convincing explanation as to why they haven’t received it.
Some players who requested to remain anonymous, have told us that despite not receiving their money since Saturday, the only word coming in from the federation is you will get your money very soon.
‘’We even wanted to refuse to travel to Njeru until our money is given to us but we decided otherwise because we love our country’’. One of the players exclusively told this website.
It should be remembered that FUFA promised 1000 USD to each player as a token of appreciation in case they eject the Falcons out of the competition.
The Cranes arrived at the centre at 5.30 PM and rested for a few minutes and tater headed for adjustment training.
At the training, coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic urged his boys not to give up on what they have achieved so far because the war is still on though they won the first battle.
He added that the all nation is looking onto them either to let it down or fly the Uganda flag higher.
Team will have an early morning g training and later in the evening at 4pm.
