Morocco’s RSB Berkane produced a rather impressive performance away from home after beating Kenya’s Gor Mahia 2-0 in the first-leg of their CAF Confederations Cup quarter-final at the Moi International Sports Centre on Sunday.
The Kenyan side will have it all to do in the second-leg of the quarter-final which will take place next Sunday.
Gor Mahia had the majority of possession in the opening half and were constantly on the attack but their decision making in the final third was poor, as was their shooting.
In fact, the Kenyan side had 11 shots on goal in the first half but only three of them were on target.
Berkane, on the other hand, used their possession more affectively and managed to take the lead in the 24th minute courtesy of a strike from Issoufou Dayo, 1-0.
After going behind the home side pushed players forward, but they were unable to find the equaliser as Berkane led 1-0 at the break.
Berkane were the better side at the start of the second half and made their pressure tell with their second goal a minute before the hour mark when Bakre El Helali found the back of the net, 2-0.
The Moroccan side took their foot off the pedal after that and seemed content to defend their lead.
Gor Mahia tried to pull a goal back but were unable to do so and will go into the second-leg two goals behind.
