Five matches were played on Wednesday 3rd April as the SportPesa Premier League entered Round 20.
Sony Sugar FC 2-3 Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia fought gallantly fought to beat Sony Sugar FC 3-2 in an exciting match played at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu. Enock Agwanda opened the scoring for Sony in the 23rd minute but the lead lasted only two minutes as Jacques Tuyisenge levelled matters. Sony retook the lead four minutes lead through a superb goal by Joshua Nyatiny. Former Sony Sugar forward Samuel Onyango restored parity for Gor Mahia just before the break.
Nicholas Kipkirui scored the winner in the second half from the spot after a handball in the box. Sony coach Patrick Odhiambo was sent off after he stepped on the pitch while protesting the decision. Sony custodian Samuel Njau was also sent off in stoppage time after he handled the ball outside the box with Gor picking the maximum points to go eight points clear on top of the log.
KCB FC 1-0 Mathare United
KCB FC beat Mathare United by a solitary goal in a match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Clinton Kisiavuki scored the all-important goal in the 23rd minute, tapping in Kennedy Owino’s low cross.
Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 Ulinzi Stars
Kakamega Homeboyz’s impressive home record continued as they beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in a match played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega. Moses Mudavadi scored the winner in the 68th minute to ensure the home side pick the three crucial points.
Bandari 3-2 Mt Kenya United
Bandari also fought hard to beat Mt Kenya United 3-2 at the Mbaraki Stadium in Mombasa. Musa Ekai opened the scoring for the visitors but Shaban Kenga equalized but Musa Ekai scored again to send Mt Kenya into the lead heading into the breather. a brace with a goal either side of Shaban Kenga’s equalizer, to send MKU into the half leading 2-1. Second half substitute Abdalla Hassan won it for the dockers with a fantastic brace.
Tusker FC 1-1 Western Stima
Tusker FC and Western Stima played to a 1-1 draw in an early kick off match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. The Brewers opened the scoring through Boniface Muchiri with the Power Men levelling scores through goalkeeper Samwel Odhiambo from the spot.
