KCCA FC were eliminated from the Caf Confederations Cup on Friday, following a 4-0 loss to Tunisia side Club Africain in Tunis.
This is after a comeback win for FUS Rabat who beat Rivers United 2-1 to deny Kasasiro boys a quaterfinal place on goal difference.
The Tunisians came into the last group-stage game knowing a draw would take them through to the quarter-finals at the expense of Rivers and Rabat.
The visitors did well to unsettle Club Africain in the early stages of the game, through quick passes but struggled with finishing.
Club Africain then took the lead in the 10th minute following Saber Khalifa spectacular finish.
Kasasiros started defending quite deep after conceding that goal, but Sserunkuma and Nunda always pushed forward in search of an away goal.Sserunkuma should have made it 1-1 in the 12th minute after being left unmarked in the box, but his effort went wide of goal.
Four minutes later it was another set-piece struggle for KCCA as they failed to organise their defence, as Manoubi Haddad powered home a low shot from inside the box.
Coach Mike Mutebi was forced to make some early change bringing on Derrick Nsimbabi for Jackson Nunda on the half hour mark in efforts to improve the attack.
The Uganda champions were made to rue missed chances from a counter attack move that resulted in Sserunkuma’s attempt being spilled by Farouk Ben before Motaz Zemzemi made it 3-0 to the home side going into the second half.
Yahya capitalized from Kasasiros’ sloppy defence immediately after the restart, and the Club Africain forward nearly grabbed fourth goal but Ochan punched the ball out of danger.
Sadam Juma nearly pulled one back in the 58th minute, but his effort came off the upright from Musamali’s corner as Mike Mutebi’s side pushed high up and looked for an important goal that would have changed the complexion of the game.
The home side didn’t sit back and had a couple of good chances to bury Kasasiros, but Ochan produced a fine block to keep his side hanging by their teeth, although the damage was already done.
Sserunkuma forced Farouk Bento a great save toward the 70th minute, but the Cranes player should have scored a few minutes later as Club Africain was caught napping at the back. However, Musona fired his shot wide of Ben’s goal.
Mutyaba forced Mustapha to a great save having dribbled past Bilel Halifa outside the box with less than 20 minutes remaining on the clock, as Club Africain looked to add more misery to Kasasiros.
And in the final minute,Maunabi Haddad scored his second after beating an offside trap, advancing towards exposed Ochan to slot in the fourth goal.
