Zambia Army sponsered side Green Buffaloes locked horns with ‘Powerful’ Power dynamos in the 2016 Samuel Zoom Ndlovu Charity shield final this afternoon at Nkoloma stadium with the presence of Sports minister Vincent Mwale and Football Association of Zambia incumbent Kalusha Bwalya.
Going by one of their nickname Power dynamos were too “Powerful” for the sodiers seeing them off by 1-0.Midfielder Larry Bwalya iscored the only goal of the game in the second half.
Buffaloes embarked the game on zenith forcing two corners in a space of six minutes.There was a chance for the soldiers in the 15th minute whith Stephen Kabamba shooting from the left flank but goalkeeper Joshua Titima delt it calmly.
Patson Daka took advantage of a sleeping moment in Buffaloes defence to creat the first clear cut chance for Power dynamos forcing goal keeper Davy Kaumbwa to make a goal line save.Three minutes later,Kelvin Mubanga had hit the bar from a long range effort.
The deadlock was yet to be broken as of halftime with both sides failing to make count of their many chances.
Power dynamos were firing in all cylinder in the second half with Kelvin Mubanga being a thorn in Buffaloes defence.The midfielder had linked up well with Julius Situmbeko but the crowded solders broked his effort which landed to Patson Daka in the area.The striker’s header went direct into the pams of Davy Kaumbwa.
Luka Lungu had balooned his effort over the bar on the edge of the penalty box which was his fist touch after coming in for Julius Situmbeko.
Power Dynamo’s resilience paid off in the 75th minute when Kelvin Mubanga spotted Larry Bwalya in area with so much space,sending the ball to him from the left flank.The midfielder then chiped in the ball into the top left corner of the net to put the Kitwe giants in the lead.
Buffaloes were reduced to ten men in the 90 minute when referee Janny Sikazwe sent off Stephene Kabamba for a second bookable offence.
Bwalya’s brilliant strike was the different at full time with Power a dymamos emerging winners of the cartain laiser of Zambia’s league football.
