TP Mazembe players are in for a big payoff after billionaire owner Moise Katumbi rewarded the team for their progress to the finals of the CAF Champions League with $400,000.
Mazembe secured qualification to their 7th finals of the Champions League with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Al Merreikh on Sunday in Lubumbashi.
Patrice Carteron’s side had suffered a 2-1 reverse in the first leg encounter against the Sudanese giants a fortnight ago.
The Ravens shook off an uninspiring first half to score three goals in the second period to secure their place in the finals where they will now face USM Alger.
The elated owner of TP Mazembe Moise Katumbi hours after the massive win handed team captain Joel Kimwaki $400,000 cash to be shared amongst all first team players.
Katumbi who is the governor of diamond-rich Katanga Province has promised the team an even bigger reward if they are able to clinch the CAF Champions League title.
The inspirational club owner is noted for his generosity and ability to incentivize his players with the promise of hefty cash-packages especially when going into crucial matches.
A staggering $1m is rumoured to be the offer on the table for the entire team if they manage to beat USM Alger in both legs of the finals to win the club their fourth CAF Champions League title.
