Football world governing body FIFA has for the second time postponed the intercontinental Olympic play-off between Cameroon and Chile.
The doubleheader had been planned for February 18 & 24 in Yaounde and Santiago in that order but has now been delayed.
FIFA has moved to push back the play-off to April, citing concerns over the coronavirus outbreak. Both confederations CAF and CONMEBOL, as well as federations – Chilean Football Federation and FECAFOOT (Cameron) agreed to the suspension.
The two legged showdown was to take place last April but was indefinetly suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cameroon missed out on an automatic slot when they lost to Zambia and will be gunning for a return to the games since London 2012. Chile will be hoping to qualify for the first ever Olympic games.
The winner joins Australia, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, USA and Zambia, who’ve already qualified.
