Morocco and DR Congo sail through to last 16, Zambia and Tanzania bow out

Morocco sailed through to the knockout phase of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Zambia 1-0 in their final Group F match played at the Laurent Poku Stadium on Wednesday.

Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal of the game in the 37th minute to condemn the Chipolopolo to their first defeat of the tournament.

Pressure is now on Avram Grant whose side did not turn up at all in the tournament.

The Chipolopolo have failed to fire with only 2 goals scored and 2 points.

Morocco finished as Group winners with 7 points from three games.

Meanwhile DR Congo managed to qualify to the knockout round after playing to a goalless draw against Tanzania.

The Leopards finish second on the table with 2 points.

The Taifa Stars have been knocked out of the competition after only managing two points and a goal.
