Morocco are the first country to have confirm their bid to host the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) after Kenya was stripped of hosting rights last weekend by CAF Exco in Accra,Ghana.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation(FRMF) Secretary General Tarik Najem confirmed the same to soka25east.com saying they country was ready.
“Yes its true we are submitting our bid for CHAN 2018 because we belive we are ready and have the necessary things to ensure the tournament is a success.We have a long time strategy to embrace the youth across the African continent and to ensure a great future for them”Tarik said.
Morocco had already qualified for the biennial tournament which is set for January 12th to February 4th 2017.The tournament is only for locally-based players.
A Caf inspection team visited Kenya from 11 to 17 September 2017 and found that only Moi International Sports centre,Kasarani was ready while Kipchoge in Eldoret,Kinoru in Meru and Machakos were far from done.
CAF Said they could not risk waiting for the stadiums to be completed in time that is why they decided to strip Kenya off the rights.
It is the second time Kenya has lost the right to stage an African football competition after being replaced by South Africa as 1996 Africa Cup of Nations hosts.
