Morocco defeated Iraq 3-0 on Tuesday in Nice to take the lead of their Group and reach the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament quarter-finals.
The Moroccan goals were scored by Amir Richardson (19th minute), Soufiane Rahimi (28th minute) and Abdessamad Zellzouli (36th minute).
Morocco’s U23 team won their opener against Argentina 2-1 and lost their second game against Ukraine 2-1, before crushing Iraq in their 3rd match.
As group winners, Morocco’s U23 football team will face in the quarter-finals in Paris on Friday the U.S. team which booked their ticket to the quarter-finals after thrashing Guinea a 3-0.
The Americans finished second in Group A with 6 points, behind France that beat New Zealand 3-0 to top the group with 9 points.
France will face Argentina which also advanced to the quarter-final after beating Ukraine 2-0 in Lyon.
