Morocco inflicted a heavy 6-0 defeat on Congo at Stade Adrar in their third match of the CAF 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday evening.
It was one way traffic from the very first whistle as a well worked effort from Azzedine Ounahi, saw the Atlas Lions open the scoring in the eighth minute. In the 16th minute Chadi Riad made it 2-0.
The North Africans didn’t stop inflicting the damage from there, as the next three strikes saw Ayoub El Kaabi complete his hat trick, he netted two goals in the first half and scored his third in the 53rd minute.
The second half saw Congo start with a bit more energy, however they found themselves conceding once again in the 62nd minute as Soufiane Rahimi got his name onto the scoresheet as well.
The result is a positive one for Walid Regragui’s men, as they remain at the top of the Group E standings but now have nine points to their names.
Tanzania are second with six points following their surprise victory over group favourites Zambia.
