Morocco’s AS FAR ladies are set for a thrilling semi finals clash against Tanzania’s Simba Ladies in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League.
Morocco’s AS FAR made it a full mark, after beating Determine Girls 2-0 in the third and final round of Group A of the CAF Women’s Champions League, thus sealing the early elimination of the Liberians from the competition on Saturday.
The Moroccans, who had already guaranteed their presence in the semi-final rounds, finish the group stage with nine points.A hope for a consolatory point quickly vanished for the home-bound WAFU-A champions on the return from the locker room. The hosts take the lead through Oumaima Harcouch, who profitted from the defensive mixup of the Liberians guarded by Ruddy Joof and Jennie Tisdell.
The elimination-destined Determine Girls committed more defensive blunders to gift the host a penalty which was eventually taken by Najat Badri, whose effort to set up Fatima Tagnaout from the spot was later ruled out in the 57th minute.
In search for more goals, Coach Mohamed Amin Alioua brought on Ibtissam Jraidi for Tagnaout in the 74th minute and the changes made a huge difference as Ghizlane Chhiri set up Jraidi to score the matchwinner and confirm their record mark.
After three wins in three, the hosts and last season’s bronze winners finished at the summit of this group A. For the second consecutive year, the Moroccans have booked a last four spot and will face the second-placed team from Group B.
