Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has proposed that clubs should be given at least three weeks of training before the resumption of the PSL.
Mosimane who is chasing another piece of silverware with the Tshwane says players will be a bit rusty if they rush into an immediate restart.
Mosimane has since recommended a mini-preseason to enable players get to full level fitness to cope with high intensity.
“I watched all LaLiga games and majority of players were struggling after the 60th minute, including Barca and Real Madrid,” Mosimane said on his Twitter page.
“Three weeks’ minimum to train before we start playing and five subs to be allowed in a game. My technical opinion. Let’s learn from practical experiences.”
“After more than two months of rest, it is very rare to have a football team who can play 90 mins of football. Hence, in week three of pre-season training from off-season, we don’t allow our teams to play more than 60 minutes in a game,” he explains.
“I believe our decision-makers will guide us well.”
SAFA recently announced that the government has given the green light for PSL Clubs resume training but under strict guidelines.
The 2019/20 season in South Africa was suspended suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Kaizer Chiefs are currently on top of the table with 48 points while Mamelodi Sundowns are second on 44 points but with a game in hand.
