Mozambique Football Federation will renew the contract of head coach Abel Xavier, the football governing body has confirmed.

According to the federation president Alberto Simango, the process to keep Xavier at the national team is already underway.

“There are no questions about negotiations with the national team coach.

“We are going to renew his contract and we will announce its extension without any problem,”said Simango in an interview with Opais.

Xavier has been criticised in some quarters by those who have questioned his previous record in Portugal.

So far his results are considered satisfactory having achieved 5 wins,3 draws and 8 defears during the period that he has lend the national team.

Xavier remains with task of enabling the Mambas qualify for Africa Cup of Nations which is a result the federation asked him to deliver.

Currently Mozambique lead the qualifying group K with 3 points,the rusult attained aganist Zambia in Ndola.
