Mr.Nyakundi was one of the top managers affected by the purge in the company in 2017 after a two week long strike by the company employees and sugar cane suppliers. The company has for the last few years faced revolt from farmers, who stopped their cane supply over delayed payments.
The factory has not been operational for two weeks due to lack of cane, a situation which led to over 800 employees downing their tools in what they said was to protect their jobs forcing Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe to effect the changes bringing in head of Agriculture Gabriel Nyangweso to take over as managing director in the company’s management structure.
Mr.Nyakundi who was head of procurement at Chemelil Sugar doubling up as the club chairman a position he held for many years until he was suspended and later dismissed after investigations were concluded.
