Ugandan Premier League side KCCA on Friday landed a three-year sponsorship deal from MTN Uganda worth $356,685.
In the arrangement, the back to back UPL champions will pocket $118,895 annually from the Johannesburg based telecommunication behemoth.
The money will go a long way in easing the financial burden on KCCA, who represent Uganda in the CAF Champions next year.
“This money is meant for the players and the club at large; it takes off a lot of weight off the club in so many areas,”
“As KCCA FC we are proud to be partnering with a big brand like MTN,” KCCA chairman Julius Kabugo said.
On their part, MTN Chief Executive Officer Wim Vanhellepute hailed the partnership of big brands.
“As MTN we are extremely proud to be working with a big yellow brand like KCCA. KCCA are champions and we are a big brand, together we can grow and take the game to the next level.”
MTN becomes the fourth company to boost the coffers of the Kampala giants.
They already have Chinese pay TV company StarTimes as their main sponsor in a four-year partnership worth $884,800.
KCCA also boast Prime Media and Britam Insurance sponsorships.
