Reasons Mufulira Wanderers is going down- Perhaps One Reason , Mighty will stay up
Have you ever head of the phrase ” Its a roller coaster ride on the wind?” Lets have a closer postmoterm of the Maite struggles and bring to light the Four reasons why Mufulira Wanderers can be relegated and the only reason why the legendary cup fighters will survive.
Mighty seem to have found a permanent plot in the relegation zone. They sit third from bottom with only three wins to their credit, 6 draws and 11 defeats. The team has forced 15 and conceded 31.
They fought with bravery in the match against Buffalos but could only manage a point from a game they were poised to win and the Horrors of battling relegation finally seem to be clearly written every where around Shinde stadium.
Mighty have nothing to show to the footballing world pre currently. The only thing worth their existence is their rich history but that also is being rewritten at a rampart and devastating pace. Wilson Mwale”s side currently languishes in 18 th position position having only claimed 15 points from their opening 20 matches, that is the worst ever start to a super league race in their history and such a defilement on the rich history of the club wont sit well among the Fans eulogised as the most passionate in the country.
This dark night of horror must pass quickly or Mighty is heading right in the face of relegation. Should this dark spell of 0.94 points per game ration continue, they will finish the season with just 35 points to their name which will be a perfect pass port to division one football next season. On the other side of the coin, Mufulira wanders paradoxically seem to have enough class in their squad to turn their fortunes around. From the technical bench. Isnt Mwale a man worth the sort. Isnt he too good to bw sacked again? And talking of the assistant Justin Chinama, he is a man who has made some thunderous statements in the Zambian coaching books.Remember how he transformed an average team at Green Buffaloes after the departure of Lwandamina and the success story of Green eagles once under his custody. It would be a sad tale to see such a pair of talented coaches kiss good bye to the super league with a great team like Mufulira wanderers.
Here are a few reasons why Mufulira Wanderers need to swallow the fact that they are now fighting relegation:
1. Worst form over the last six games
Onlh Nakonde, City and Warriors have picked fewer points than Mufulira Wanderes over their last six matches. This poor run is a dish not good for their stomach and there is need to consider something better before the drums begin sounding. The New Chair person was brought in to make Mighty Better but this form has been way far detached from their anticipations. The team has been improving but the results and the league table say a different story.
2. They have had no injury Crisis yet.
It might sound odd to talk about possible injuries for a team but its a reality close to the blue sky: Injuries and football are inseparable. The team has so far had their anchor resting on Osumani and Manziba but should the two limp off into the surgeon’ corner, the team will be thrown in a tight basket of rotten eggs. Suppose a wave of injuries hit Shinde, the assumption will be suicide.
3. The key players seem not to be playing for Might. Their focuss is somewhere else.
Ben Chengo, Joseph Kanema and Chrispin Sakulanda have only got three goals in between them, reverting back to this time last season when the trio was Kanema, Sitali and Sakulanda, Mighty must be doing better. The greater worry is that among the 15 goals the team has scored, 10 are from only two players. Their has been an over dose of hope placed on Sakulanda this season and the boy is nothing but a shadow of the player that graced the team with immense promise last season. Coach Mwale needs to bring the boy back to life. Rahim remains a constant threat but many defenders seem to have worked him out and unless Mighty Freshens their approach in the final third, the struggle doesnt seem to end now.
4. Wilson is becoming tired of the low levels of concerntration in his camp.
You will barely hear coaches accusing their players of a lack of concerntration but thats the very route Wilson chose to take in describing Mighty’s inability to convert their training ground methods in the match they lost to Nkana. On the other end, he keeps blowing his own trumpet about how the team has improved from the time he took over. When managers begin to heap blame on players, it often doesnt spell well for them.
With all said, there only seem to be one reason, why Mighty will survive the cut.
This season’s campaign can be can be accused of lacking the quality of the previous years as evidenced by the low point totals. Each time a team break free from the park, they easily slip up, something Napsa has made most of.
But this can also apply to the bottom of the table, albeit in reverse. No team in the bottom six seem to be taking advantage of the flaws other teams in the relegation zone are making. Just one Win for Mighty can make such a massive difference. Its so tight both top and bottom.
City of Lusaka is next and Mighty might squeeze through to put space between themselves and the bottom two. City has also shown all signs of a team cursed to the releation dogfight. Unless any of the three dramatically change the way they play, the relegation spots are already obvious.
For now,
……THE STRUGGLE IS REAL.
