Gor Mahia midfielder has dedicated the 2017 Kenyan Premier League title win to those who have lost their lives after the disputed August 8th and October 26th presidential elections unrest.

“I dedicate this title to those who have perished during this period and condole with their families,” the reigning KPL most valuable player posted on his Facebook page.

Fingers have been pointed at the police for using excessive force to quell protests leading to many deaths including that of six-month old baby Pendo who was clobbered to death in Kisumu.

Independent Medical Legal Unit (IMLU) puts the numbers at 36; however, the police say they recorded 19 deaths.

Muguna has called for tolerant, “Our political differences shouldn’t lead to loss of life.”

He adds: “As we negotiate these uncertain times, I pray for love to prevail. But above all, may that love be anchored in the values we hold dear,”

“May the calm not be cosmetic, but come as a result of a realization that each voice counts, no matter how small.”

The former Western Stima player joins other KPL stars like Tusker FC midfielder Humphrey Mieno who have come out openly to condemn the deaths and express solidarity with the victims.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was re-elected president on the 8th against his main challenger Raila Odinga, however, the win was nullified by the Supreme Court.

Uhuru has since been declared winner of repeat poll on the 26th – boycotted by Odinga.

Muguna traces his roots to central Kenya where Uhuru hails from but horned his great footballing skills in Western Kenya specifically in Kisumu, which is the political bedrock of Odinga.
