By Lorraine Ruto,
Muhoroni Youth Football Club, who had an almost exemplary season last year finishing 8th,with ten wins, ten losses, and ten draws, are gearing up for an even better season with their new rookie buys as well as unfaltering hope for the new season.
The new signings came about after losing three of their superb attackers; Ezekiel Otuoma who joined Ulinzi Stars, Enos Ochieng who joined the military while Ronald Omino managed to join the 2014 Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
On top of the list of best buys this season is former Gor and Top Fry football clubs striker, Anthony Otieno also known as ‘Balotieno’.Anthony joined Top Fry All Stars in June 2014 from Chemelil Sugar and after the side got relegated at the end of the 2014 season, he moved to join the youthful club.
The strapping young lad has already began to prove himself by scoring two goals in a friendly with Sony Sugar the other fresh buy from Muhoroni Academy not lagging behind, sealed the win with a third goal on the 70th minute.
Another new signing, Jacob Mulamba received nothing more than well wishes, praises and blessing from his former club, theNational Super League Busia United as well as his former club chairman William Musumba . The other players signed who showed great promise were Abdalla Hamisi and John Masaki, Paul Muchika , Elvis Rukia and Mandela Yakuti.
The second friendly of the Sony Sugar game played in Muhoroni Stadium on 28th Jan 2015,ended in a 1-0 nil defeat, Amata scoring an own goal in the last few minutes of the game. The friendly show cased incredible improvement in the Muhoroni side as well as a great threat in ball handling and accuracy in their passes. Most of the Muhoroni players showed good form in the field, making several attempts on target that were saved by the resilient Sony Sugar goalkeeper Adira Jairus. Slight decision making mistakes were made, but luckily they still have enough time to practice before the season really starts.
Needless to say, the new season beckons to these players, looking like they will be a force to reckon with.
All that is left is for them to improve the state of their stadium.
