Football Kenya Federation president Nick Mwandwa and football commentator Herbert Mwachiro have been appointed to CAF Standing Committees for 2017-2019 cycle.
Mwendwa will serve in the Organizing Committee for African Nations Championship as a member.
The committee will be headed by Liberia FA boss Musa Bility as president with Angola’s Rui Eduardo da Costa and Tunisia’s Wadie Jary serving as 1st and 2nd vice presidents respectively.
The 12-member committee’s core mandate is to organize the staging of the biennial continental tournament reserved for home-based professionals.
Kenya was earmarked to stage the 2018 edition but the rights were taken away and handed to Morocco for lack of preparedness.
Mwachiro on the other hand has landed appointment to the Organizing Committee for Youth Africa Cups of Nations U17, U20 and U23.
The committee comprises seven members and will be headed by SAFA president Danny Jordaan with Guinea’s Almamy Kabele Camara and Central Africa Republic’s Edward Ngaissoma serving as 1st and 2nd vice presidents respectively.
In total there are 13 CAF Standing Committees including the organization’s top decision making organ the Executive Committee which comprises 20 members.
Others are Emergency, Finance, AFCON, CHAN, Interclub Competitions and Club Licensing, U17, U20 and U23 AFCONS, Women’s Football, Futsal and Beach Soccer, Referee, Technical and Development, Legal Affairs and National Associations and Medical committees.
