On Saturday Enock “Computer” Mwepu came on as a second half substitute in Zambia’s world cup qualifier against Algeria and totally stole the show. The FC Liefering midfielder genius helped Zambia to a 3-1 victory over Algeria.
The talented midfielder was making his senior national team debut . Mwepu was one of the key players from Beston Chambeshi’s AFCON winning squad .

His calmness, intelligence and awareness when on the ball was something that caught the attention of many people attracting alot of praise.
Mwepu may be the talk of the town now but Zambia’s massive young talent. Mwepu was a power Dynamos player in 2015 and could not break into the first line-up because of players like Larry Bwalya making midfield positions something of a personal to order thing.

On the same day Mwepu made his debut Fashion Sakala, Another U20 AFCON winning player. Despite being sent to an early shower, Sakala gave a good account of himself.
Infact all the players from that U20 AFCON winning squad have been making massive impacts at their clubs. Edward Tembo who was not even a key player at the AFCON has been City of Lusaka’s key player and the captain of the squad.

Kenneth Kalunga another fringe player is in Portugal to finalise his move to Esmoriz. Shemmy Mayembe had successful trials in Serbia, Captain of that squad Solomon Sakala is also in Portugal finalising a deal.
This year alone Zambia has managed to win two junior tournaments (COSAFA U17 Championships and U20 Africa cup of nations). The U20 also reached the quarter finals of the World cup for the first time in the history of Zambian Football.

The country seems to be heading in the right direction and if the players can be martyred properly it won’t be long before Zambia makes it’s debut at the FIFA world cup.
