Zesco Vic Falls forward Mwiya Mwiya has been named Man of the match in a game between Zesco Vic Falls and Mazabuka United and walked away with a K500. 00. Mwiya Mwiya is the first player in Livingstone to receive an award organised by Soccer fans called Livingstone Bola Challenge.
The match, which took place at the Victoria Falls ground, the home of Zesco Vic Falls ended in a 3-0 , with Mwiya Mwiya scoring a hat-trick.
Zesco Vic Falls have brightened their chances of representing the tourist capital in the super league with a win that takes them to 38 points, one point behind league leaders Manchester United Zambia Academy and Maramba Stars but the Mazabuka outfit have a game in hand.
And Zesco Vic Falls officials have expressed gratitude to the initiative of the award and believes that it will motivate Livingstone players to endeavour for greatness in their games.
It’s the first time in the country that fans have come up together to support all their local teams in the second tier of Zambian football.
Livingstone Bola Challenge committee member, who is also Manager of Livingstone’s Zambezi FM Danny Anakene said it was an initiative that was brought up to spur players as well as bring unit among soccer fans.
“Among the so many reasons why we have this group is to motivate our players (local) to fight and put in their best knowing what is at stake at the end of it all. We also hope this could actually bring unit among Livingstone fans, ” Said Danny Anakene in a postmortem meeting of Livingstone Bola Challenge.
