Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) in conjuction with WASH United Africa will host the MYSA – WASH United Girls Soccer Tournament scheduled to take place from Friday August 19,2016 climaxing to a closing ceremony Sunday, August 21 at the Starehe boys centre in Nairobi.
This year, the girls’ soccer tournament themed “End the Hesitation around Menstruation” will see 1,278 participants from 72 teams of 3 different age categories. The tournament aims to encourage and empower girls to take up sports integrating soccer, advocating for behavior change and acquisition of life skills.
In addition to the football matches, participants and fans will be engaged in life skills activities on HIV/AIDS, WASH promoting sanitation, hygiene, menstrual hygiene and advocacy on youth right, child protection and testing for HIV.
The tournament will be graced Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa and his deputy Doris Petra also in attendance will be the MYSA Board of trustees chairman Bob Munro .
