Namibia will be camping in Tunisia from next week ahead of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Brave Warriors will arrive in Tunis on December 27 and spend close to 10 days before departing for the continent’s showpiece in Morocco.
The national team coach Ricardo Mannetti has revealed the Namibia FA settled on Tunisia because of the weather conditions that are similar to host nation climate.They are supposed to also play a few warm-up games before the tournament.
“We are leaving the country to Morocco on December 27 for the camping ahead of the Chan,” Mannetti told Windhoek -based Omulunga FM.
The former Santos midfielder has also announcement of the 31-man training squad that will be later be trimmed to 23 players before the team’s departure to Morocco.
Most members of the new squad from the under-20 setup with Mannetti keeping his word that he needed to add depth and to use the approach of an underdog as they are rookies going into the tournament.
Namibia are housed in a difficult Group B with Ivory Coast, Zambia and Uganda. The tournaments kicks off January 12 and ends February 4.
The tournament brings together 16 national teams composed of local players playing in the national leagues of their respective countries.
