Namibia International Shilongo completes move from Smouha to Ismaily

Ismaily have completed the signing of Namibia international Benson Shilongo B from Smouha, both clubs have announced on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old had only joined Smouha last summer from Pyramids, however, he didn’t last long at the Alexandrian club and has moved to Ismaily.

Benson Shilongo is the second Smouha player to depart the club in the January transfer window after Ahmed Nabil Manga, who moved to rivals Ittihad of Alexandria.

During his short stay at Smouha, Shilongo made only 13 appearances for the club, scoring four times as he failed to recapture his old form at Pyramids.

Shilongo has penned a new contract at Ismaily, joining the club for a reported fee of 4.5 million Egyptian pounds, becoming the club’s first winter arrival.

He will replace Nigerian forward Okiki Afolabi, whose contract was terminated after just six games with the club.

Ismaily are expected to announce more signings in the upcoming days as they want to improve their league position as they currently sit bottom of the league table.

They will also take part in the CAF Champions League group-stages and the quarter-finals of the Egypt Cup, where they will face Ittihad of Alexandria.
