Napoli are keen to seal the deal for Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen within the shortest time possible.
Osimhen is one of the most sought after talents in Europe after putting up impressive displays in his first season with the Ligue 1 side.
The 21-year-old travelled to Naples last Tuesday, where he met coach Gennaro Gattuso to listen to offers and tour the club’s facilities.
According to reports in Italy, Napoli have in fact received positive signals after the player’s meeting with president Aurelio De Laurentiis in Capri.
Osimhen flew back to France together with his significant other and his agent.
Napoli have put a €80 million offer on the table for Lille to consider but it seems the Italian club and the player have not settled some details about the striker’s wages (in the region of €2 million per year after taxes) and image rights (the player would have to rescind his contract with the current sponsor). The parties have not reached a final agreement yet, however there’s optimism about the outcome of the deal.
Liverpool and Inter Milan are other clubs lurking in the background hoping to sign the player.
Osimhen scored 18 goals with 6 assists for the French club and has made 9 appearances for the Super Eagles scoring four times.
