Napsa Stars and Lusaka Dynamos both earned hard-fought wins in the Barclays Cup Quarterfinals double header played at Nkoloma Stadium today Sunday 24 September 2017.
Napsa Stars defeated league leaders Green Buffaloes 3-2 on post match penalties after the game ended 1 all in regulation time.
Green Buffaloes who have been in such terrific in the MTN FAZ Super League took the lead at the stroke of halftime through Lottie Phiri.
In the second half Napsa Stars came out pushing for the equaliser, but it was not until in the late stages.
Mangani Phiri’s dramatic late leveller in injury time sent the tie to penalties.
Lottie Phiri turned from hero to villain as he missed the crucial penalty. Napsa winning 3-2 to go through to the semifinals.
And Lusaka Dynamos overcame Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy 1-0 in the other Quarterfinal clash.
Marvin Jere with the only goal of the game on 45 minutes.
Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy showed why they have won promotion to the FAZ Super League next season giving a good account of themselves against a much more fancied Lusaka Dynamos.
Dynamos held on to record a slender 1-0 win.
