Napsa Stars football club have leapfrogged Lusaka Dynamos to lead the MTN/FAR super league after an emphatic 3 nil win over Real Nakonde.
The encounter was more of a one sided affair with Napsa Stars who were missing striker Chitiya Mususu who is with the national team dictating play. The encounter went to half time with the game locked at nil nil.
The second half was another story as Napsa midfielder Youremember Banda scored from close range in the 53rd minute and then a long range 20 minutes later. Mangani Phiri who was making his first start put the game beyond Real Nakonde with a header.
Napsa Stars head coach Tenant Chilumba said his team struggled but he was happy to get maximum points.
” We wanted to get maximum points, We struggled in both halves and we did not play our usual game. We just have to push the boys cause it’s a youthful team and they are lacking concentration. We want to finish in top four and winning the league will just be a bonus,” said Chilumba
Real Nakonde coach Mathews Ndhlovu lamented his teams poor performance and called on management to make funds available for new player to be acquired.
” It was a poor performance, especially in the second half we did not play well. If we don’t beef up the squad we are destined for division one. We need to beef up almost all the department’s. We need to bring more competition in the squad,” said Ndhlovu
Napsa Stars are now two points above Lusaka Dynamos while Real Nakonde remain rooted at the bottom of the table with just 8 points.
