Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga has revealed that Chipolopolo head coach George Lwandamina will remain in charge of the senior national team.
Chipolopolo could only register two consecutive draws with Congo-Brazzaville in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers during the international break.
The draws left Zambia placed third on Group E standings with six points from four matches. Second-placed Congo are only ahead on goal-difference, while top-placed Guinea Bissau have seven points.
Lwandamina also guided Zambia during the 2016 African Nations Championships (AFCON) in Rwanda – where Chipolopolo were booted of the quarter-finals by Guinea.
According to Zambia’s state owned publication Daily Mail, newly elected FAZ boss Kamanga feels that Lwandamina has done a good job since his appointment on June 7, 2015.
The former African champions will lock horns with high-flying Guinea Bissau away in their next Group E encounter on the weekend of 3-5 June 2016.
Chipolopolo are also in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CAF) third round. They are part of the 20 teams which will be drawn into five groups on the 24th June 2016.
