Kenyan footballers, fans and stakeholders are on cloud nine after being expectant for over 4 years.
No one saw it coming but the writing was on the wall as Incumbent Sam Nyamweya sensed an embarrassing defeat and chickened out of the race in good time before the chickens came home to roost.

After over 10 postponements Kenya has a new office with Nick Mwendwa breaking the myth that football leadership is only associated with older men.
Mwendwa has his work cut out and there will not be enough time to savour the victory as he must hit the ground running and put the football house in order as quickly as possible to return the beautiful game in Kenya to where it belongs.
It will be a tough job for him as he will definitely get resistance but he must be bold enough to embrace change all the way from the grassroots to the national office as he seek to align systems that were hitherto dead as a dodoo.
Nick Mwendwa comes to the helm of Kenyan football with alot of goodwill let him unlock football potential away from Nairobi and give it national prominence unlike in Sam Nyamweya’s era where elected football officials were most of the time seen camping at the head office waiting for alms as the branches and sun branches deteriorated.

The African Nations Championship also known as Chan2018 is coming to Kenya it’s another time to shine with the collaboration of the government to outdo what Rwanda did in the 2016 edition which was the best an East African nation has done.
Kenyans football fans have been heartbroken for many years since 2004 was the last time the Harambee Stars participated in a Caf prime tournament the Afcon hosted by Tunisia. This down spiralling must end immediately under the new office.
It is not rocket science to take note that Nick Mwendwa has alot of goodwill in the corporate sector he will need to use his influence to help get the much needed sponsorship to help football growth in all the tiers not just the Kenyan Premier League.
Alot of people will insist on getting favours after they were involved in the elections something that could easily put Mwendwa under immense pressure but he has to lead by example and give his best democratically and with alot of professionalism to avoid any fallouts as he must insist on delivery of the campaign manifesto in the first 100 days in office.
Nick Mwendwa has a glorious moment where he can immediately seek to make his own legacy and road to a great future for Kenyan football.
