irked by the decision of the CAF Inspectors to lock out Kisumu from one of the hosts towns for the 2018 Total CAF African Nations Championships,Kisumu Senator Prof Peter Anyang Nyongo has today said the County Government will have a new stadium that will remain as his legacy.
The Senator who is challenging incumbent Governor Jack Ranguma for the top post was speaking on a one on one interview at K24 TV.
He said Kisumu is known for sporting activities including football,Hockey,Rugby etc and has promised to build a new multipurpose international stadium in the count in his first five year term .
Kisumu’s Moi Stadium was locked out by CAF as unfit to host CAF matches with Meru’s Kinoru,Uasin Gishu’s Kip Keino,Machakos County Stadium and Both Nyayo and Kasarani of Nairobi earmarked for the biennial tourney which will be the first in East Africa.
The previous tournament was held in Rwanda and Kenya has never qualified for the tiourney .
The last time Kisumu hosted an international match was on June 2016 when Harambee starlets beat Uganda crested cranes 4-0
