The Nigerian Football Federation [ NFF] has dismissed a report that it cannot fly the Super Eagles to Zambia for a World Cup qualifier as blatant falsehood.
A report in a local Newspaper “The Guardian” claimed the NFF was too broke to fulfil the fixture and were outsourcing for funds.
“Although many of its squad earn lucrative salaries playing for clubs in Europe, the NFF is courting a sponsor to raise $270,000 in order to charter a plane to Ndola, Zambia for the match on October 9, according to Nigeria’s Guardian newspaper.
“As we speak, we don’t have any kobo (a denomination of Nigeria’s naira currency) in our purse,” an unnamed member of the NFF told the newspaper, adding that they were appealing to regional telco giant Globacom for aid”
These claims have however been refuted by the NFF and its president Amaju Pinnick.
“We have concluded arrangements on movement to and from Zambia. Any talk of being unable to go is a big lie.”- said NFF President Pinnick:
“Some persons have perfected the art of concocting stories they feel people want to read about NFF and passing it off as authentic stories.”-he further added
